2021 Ford Explorer

Many automotive manufacturers have added more hybrid and electric models to their lineups, and Ford is no exception. If you want the durability and appeal of a Ford model while doing your part to protect the environment, a hybrid model could be the ideal solution. Take a closer look at a few of the most appealing Ford hybrid vehicles.

2021 Ford Escape Plug-In Hybrid

The Escape is a popular small SUV in the Ford lineup, and the manufacturer fully redesigned it last year. As part of the redesign, Ford added a plug-in hybrid variant to the lineup. It can drive up to 37 miles on pure electric power, and then it will switch over to a hybrid operation to keep you on the road. Beneath its hood, you’ll find a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a rechargeable battery pack, which takes about 10-11 hours to charge on a 110-volt outlet and about 3.5 hours on a Level 2 charger.

Standard interior features of this SUV include dual-zone automatic climate control, cloth upholstery, and a height-adjustable driver’s seat. Still, it’s also available with upgrades like heated seats, leather upholstery, and power-adjustable front seats. On the tech side, you get a six-speaker sound system, an 8-inch touch screen, two USB ports, and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay as a standard feature. All models also include Ford Co-Pilot360, a suite of safety features that bundles automatic high beams, forward collision mitigation, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and lane departure mitigation.

2021 Ford F-150

For utility-minded drivers, the F-150 is an incredible option that is now available with a hybrid powertrain. It includes a 3.5-liter turbocharged V-6 engine paired with an electric motor and a battery pack. The combined output with this powertrain comes in at a whopping 430 horsepower and 570 pound-feet of torque. It works with a 10-speed automatic transmission that powers the rear wheels, although four-wheel drive is available.

When equipped with the hybrid powertrain and the proper equipment, this pickup truck can tow up to 12,700 pounds and haul up to 2,120. It’s also available with high-end safety equipment, including Pro Trailer Backup Assist, a trailer brake controller, and Trailer Reverse Guidance, which uses multiple high-def cameras to provide views and steering graphics to assist in maneuvering and backing with an attached trailer.

2021 Ford Explorer

Another hybrid option in the Ford lineup is the Explorer, a three-row SUV ideal for larger families or those who carry a lot of gear. The Limited and Platinum trim levels offer the hybrid powertrain, which produces a combined output of 318 horsepower. The Limited trim includes upscale features like tri-zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, and an 8-inch touch screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration.
