We’ve created a list of the best bike paths around Blackfot, ID. Everyone loves a good cycle from time to time! Biking down a beautiful trail while enjoying the sights and sounds of the outdoors is relaxing, and it’s good for your health too! Luckily for local residents, the Blackfoot, ID area features a great range of bike paths to suit all abilities.

1. Jensen Grove Park

If you’re looking for smooth, wide paths that are suitable for the whole family, Jensen Grove Park is the place to be. This pleasant park features a range of trails that are perfect for a quiet, afternoon ride. After you’ve enjoyed a cycle, you could stop for a picnic or let the kids enjoy the playground.  

You’ll find Jensen’s Grove Park on East Airport Road, by Jensens Lake. It’s open from dawn to dusk, all year round. Please note, the paths can get a little busy on warmer days.

2. Satterfield Bike Trails

Perfect for mountain bikes, Satterfield Bike Trails run for more than 10 miles, with a variety of routes available, so you can vary things on each visit! The paths are mostly gravel, with some technical cornering and moderate elevation in places.

The entrance to this network of paths is located in Pocatello, just under half an hour’s drive from Blackfoot. Parking is available at the trailhead. Please note, trails are multi-use, so you may encounter horse riders or dirt bikes on the route!

3. Ryder Bike Park

One of the best cycling spots in the area, Ryder Bike Park is a volunteer-run park that offers a range of different trails. There are dirt tracks for mountain bikes, ramps for BMXs, and plenty more facilities for bikers of all kinds!

The park is still in the construction stage is expected to grow considerably in the coming years. But there’s plenty of riding to be had here already! The park is located a short drive from Blackfoot in Idaho Falls and is well worth the trip for cycling enthusiasts.

4. Portneuf Greenway Trail System

Serving the community for almost 30 years, Portneuf Greenway Trail System is a beautiful place to ride a bike. Running alongside the Portneuf River, the route takes in a wealth of beautiful scenery along its 17-mile route, including rolling hills, pristine lakes, and luscious woodland. Plenty of wildlife can be seen on the route, including deer and a variety of birds.

This is also a popular spot with walkers, but the path is wide enough that you’ll rarely find your way blocked. Trailheads and parking are located at several spots around  Pocatello, including Rainey Park, Centennial Park, Edison Fichter Nature Area, and the Portneuf Wellness Complex. There are plans to extend the path another 10 miles, so check the website for updates.
